Before I started self actualizing. I always had big dreams and goals. Never wrote them down, but I had them in my mind. I thought with that attitude I was going to make it happen. Although, now I realize it is the other way around. People, in general, want to realize their goals, including me. But, they fail at the very beginning, with the goal setting process. And I think that shouldn’t happen. So, today I am going to help you to improve your goal setting. To make your goals, come true.
The basics
To start, we are going to discuss the basics. To make goals more clear you firstly will have to write them down. Make those goals big. And with big I mean really big. So, you only are 60% sure of it. Even if, you want to become the president of America ;) Because I know you can accomplish anything. Not a couple, but a lot. For example, a thirty (Honestly, I myself can only come up with twenty). Later on, you will see that some goals are not that well fitted for your lifestyle. So, you can crap those. But you will have some goals left. Which you can really focus your valuable time and energy on. Know I am going to explain a system to accomplish goals faster. And make them more clear to you.
It always seems impossible until it's done - Nelson Mandela -
SMART-SYSTEM by George T. Doran
To make your goals even better apply this fascinating system. Which I will now explain;
M Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
A Achievable (agreed, attainable).
R Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
T Time bound (time-based, time limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).
S. Stands for Specific. When writing goals down. Try to be specific. Answer questions like;
What do I want to accomplish?
Why is this goal important to me?
Who is involved?
Where is it located?
M. Measurable. Goals have to be measurable to know when you accomplished the goal. For example, Getting a salary of 50.000 dollars this month. Or getting 200 followers on Twitter.
A. Achievable. Your goals has to be achievable. As I said before, I use the 60% sure rule. Because I know you and I can accomplish way more that we think. But to be successful, you will have to know that it is achievable.
R. Relevant. Some people, want to become president others won’t. It is the lifestyle of yours that sets the goals in your life. You know what you want to become (If not, stay tuned for another blog post, later on). So, set goals that focus on that. If you have set a goal with doesn’t fit you. Just, crap it.
T. Time bound. With every goal you will have to set a specific time to finish it. Otherwise, you won’t be that productive in your life. Want to finish it in a week, Go for it!. Two months, Go for it! But, make sure you know how much time you need, and than set it slightly earlier. To challenge yourself ;)
This concept, has worked really well for me. Try it out, and let me know what you think of the system of George T. Doran! Keep in mind to focus on your own dreams.
Have a nice day! And subscribe to my blog, if you haven’t (on the left side of this blog post)
